Arrghhh that sinusitis piece of ****t

Ok So remember that i had a sinus infection last week? Well it's been there for the last 17 days. I don't get the terrible headache. Just yucky discharge and heaviness behind my eyes. Also i get dizzy and nauseous. I had been taking Ester-C, zinc and garlicin. Had to stop garlicin after 8 days coz it was starting to give me insomnia and muscle aches. Still taking the other stuff, and doing sinus rinse, and steam bath with T tree oil.

I went to my accupuncturist today and told her about this and she stuck some needles near my sinuses (ouch!) and prescribed me some herbs. I was adamant i did not want herbs in case they interfere with my colon bacteria (they love me as long as i love them and feed them good stuff :p). Anyway, she said not to worry she will give me something that should only work on the sinus with no GI side effects at all. Im like coolies! bring it on. Otherwise i'd have to take the antibiotic, and these days im trying to stay as natural as a hippie.

I cannot read the stuff it's written in chinese. It's a powder. I take it with food. Today was my first day and i feel a bit of heartburn?...or stomach being too full? coincidence maybe? She said i have to take it for 6 days. Anyone taken chinese herbal stuff for sinusitis before?

I have had chinese herbs for sinus issues http://www.heavenearthchineseherbs.com/store/pc/Pe-Min-Kan-Wan-5888p53.htm and found them very effective but I know nothing about how I might have reacted to them .. that was early on in the healing journey and only for an acute sinus infection to keep me from antibiotics ;)

Im on sudafed, but stopped now as you can't stay on it for long. It didn't do much to the sinus drainage (yuck). I have not taken antibiotics for this; trying other things instead.

Petah: i've got manuka honey 25+ (same brand you use) and been taking it orally. Never thought i could spray it, have you tried it and it worked? What concentration honey/water do you use?

Pathogenkiller: hmm i havent tried colloidal silver...You probably didn't react to the herbs otherwise you would remember.

Conquer UC, another way of getting maximum benefits if your eating the honey, like me, is to mix it with slippery elm or pysillium to attach it to digestive tract instead of it going straight through. They suggest eating with a cracker to hold it in the stomach longer so my theory is if it's mixed with slippery elm it will coat where it's needed a lot longer.

Petah: the thing is that i find these sprays only reach so high meaning they don't get to the frontal sinus which us where most of my pressure is. Did you have coloured discharge at the time or was it just a stuffy nose. Coz my nose is clear; it's just this pressure above my eyes and discharge runs down my throat.

NSSG: i have green coloured discharge (sorry TMI) which runs down my throat. My nose is clear. I just finished two days of the herbs and still the discharge is as green as ever and my forehead feels like a balloon is trapped there. I think it's an infection and i probably need to throw in the towel.

Tedd yeh thats what my doc told me as well, he is good too. It's just that i thought maybe i could beat it using natural stuff. I really wonder sometimes how people used to deal with these infections before antibiotics..? I wonder what they used.

As soon as I applied the honey with a Cotton tip I got a discharge. Yes it was greenish. It somehow unclogged it and it began draining from my nose. I also use steam with medical grade salt. And another good thing for sinus is bromilain, a powerful anti inflammatory. I myself prefer to get it natural by juicing (core is most concentrated source) but you can buy a supplement. It's also been used for UC and surgeon suggest using Pryor to sinus surgery to reduce inflammation. I steer from antibiotics as well, though have used them without it affecting my condition.. Didnt help my reflux though. My Son just healed an outbreak of impetego with Manuka Honey..

What are antihistamine sprays...?

Decongestant sprays are very helpful....just don't use them often or more than once a day, because rebound congestion will definitely be a worse symptom and most difficult to deal with.

Oral decongestants are a huge help....

don't know about manuka honey...tastes good on toast and in coffee or tea.

From what I read....both you suggested are by prescription. Not what I suggested at all, and the decongestant sprays can be used with either infection or sinusitis (noninfection).

It's great you've had success with manuka spray and all the infections you seem to be prone to.

And there's a time to realise that antibiotics are a necessity. A continuing infection can cause all sorts of other problems.
