I'm just curious to see how old you are now and how old were you when you were OFFICIALLY diagnosed.

There only a small handful of people on here that have had UC the same amount of years as me or more so I just wanted to do an informal poll.

I'm 43 now but I was diagnosed when I was 22.

i am 23 and was diagnosed with proctitis at 17, UC at 21.

at the time of my first diagnosis, my doctor didn't even mention it was IBD. he just said take these enemas for 3 weeks, take laxatives, and to eat more fiber. it's crazy to think all these years later, he is the same doctor to treat me in the hospital last week for my c diff infection. i'd never want him to take over my UC care.

I'm 34 now and was officially diagnosed with uc at 33.

I was diagnosed with mild ulcerative proctitis when I was 33. Now I'm 34 and latest DX is severe ulcerative colitis.

15, and 28 now. I forget the terms, but I was diagnosed with it throughout my entire colon. I felt like I was bleeding to death when I was diagnosed. It has gotten so much better throughout the years.

21 when I was diagnosed with moderate pancolitis (symptoms started at age 20). Currently 26. First time I haven't been able to get into remission with mesalamine (Asacol and enemas) and 1 week of topical steroids alone :(

OT: sherbear46, I also have chronic urticaria! Had it since I was 17, used to get super out of control and turn into angioedema. Fortunately, it's been behaving with just Zyrtec for several years now ... I hate chronic inflammation!

Officially diagnosed at 27 on 1/2013 with numerous hospitalizations spanning from November to January left sided UC , had "ischemic colitis" in 2008. Was told it was likely I had it since 2008 although they cant know that for sure.

Diagnosed '06* when I was 63. I'm 70 next wednesday.

Sciencegirl-Mine used to be controlled with Zyrtec too. Too many years on it and it just wasn't doing enough. I'm now taking 3 meds a day and take another if I still end up getting hives at night. Stinks doesn't it?

I was 25, full colon but it probably started when I was younger and it just didn't effect me then. I'm 28 now.

Got sick at 11 years old, officially diagnosed at 12.  I am 29 now.  Looks like I'm the youngest diagnosed here so far...  Woo hoo.  LoL

12
