UC affecting other immune system diseases (per my allergist)

My allergist told me something interesting at my yearly check-up appt last week. She said since my UC is flaring up, it could make my allergies flare up. She said she sees that a lot in her patients, even with people who have things like acid reflux. I just found that interesting.

Allergies are a messed up immune system. UC is from a messed up immune system. It is extremely logical that anything that would mess up the immune system, even something as simple as the common cold, could have an unwanted effect on other parts of the immune system. In fact, UC is my second autoimmune disease. My first one has been in check for years due to allergy shots calming down my immune system. Unfortunately that route isn't going to help my UC.

I was on allergy shots for a year but quit them at the end of December because I didnt notice a difference.

I've had allergies since I was a tiny tot. I used to pick dandelions in our backyard and would sneeze and get so upset when giving them to my mom because they'd be a mess. I'd like to think outdoor allergies are connected, but I'm not so sure about that, because I posed a question on HW last year about why we cannot use anti-histamines to help with immune responses for UC & allergies together -- seems they are completely different. =/

I have a few immune issues, too.
First it was allergies, then asthma, then I had to have a lymph node removed, then pustular psoriasis, chostrachondritis, sjorgren's, uc and rhuematoid arthritis.... Evil immune system I have!!

That would be great if we could! I take an antihistmine every day for my cat allergies. If only UC were so easily managed!

Ugh, that stinks musicmaker. Your immune system just wont give you a break.
