Well the Gi visit was better than expected... He didnt try to push anything, seemed pretty resigned to let me make the shots. Not sure if thats a good or bad thing. But, for better or worse, Im back on flagyl to give it another shot.
He even said theres a study going on in my town on LDN and colitis.. and since Im already on it, I cant participate.

hey Freddyj, I'll be on flagyl in a two weeks, alternating from that and cipro every month. What do you mean your back on it to give it another shot? Were you on it before and it didn't help? have you tried the antibiotic therapy combo? Have you just tried Cipro before? Why are you taking flagyl now? Lots of questions for you :)

I took it originally (2 years ago) when first diagnosed. At the time, they thought I had a parasite. I got on asacol right after and went into remission within a month. Reflared about
3 months later, which may have been due to stopping/cutting asacol, and/or eating food i now know/think im allergic to (ate a ton of tuna with sesame seed a day before flaring.... ) Now my ige test says wheat and sesame are my worst "allergies"... So giving it another shot. No, havent been on cipro. My dr didnt seem too enthused about
the cipro/flagyl thing but i guess rxd it to appease me.....

no not me. I hope you feel better soon. I've been back to bleeding the last few days. When I'm on cipro I feel like I don't have UC at all! It's was a nice break.

Thats so odd... So it must be, logically, killing an offensive bacteria, but not completely? Hence its return? What is your GIs take on that?

she wants to try alternating cipro and then flagyl and switching off the two will confuse the bacteria and it will die off. Make sense? Back to bleeding again today. Started VLS3 last night. Major gas but it passed this morning, very offensive smell!

My new GI just put me on Flagyl and Cipro yesterday. Flagyl 500mg 3 times a day and Cipro 500 mg twice a day all for 14 days. I just started Flaring the other day. Lots of blood and a mild fever along with a bunch of sores on tongue and gums. I also have some stool samples to do but still waiting for some actual stool to appear and not just blood and mucus. I got some Rowasa enemas but so far have been scared to try them

250 mg 4X per day for 10 days. Hard to say whats going on, may be a help. Last night (halfway through course) I slept well, only woke 2x for semi formed poos, and then only woke at 9 am to go in the am.. a few weeks ago i was going maybe 8X in that window.

I have not been necessarily taking mine with food. I try to eat a few crackers or something and drink plenty of water. I really don't have an appetite.

how are you both feeling, scum1 and freddyj? I'm taking my full dose but doing the way one of you are, 250mg x4 times a day. I'm still the same, my poo is orange and of course diarreah like, some blood.
Are you guys having any formed stool at all?

Nothing remotely formed for me. No blood this morning for a change though so that is a good sign I hope. I have noticed that after I take my mid day combo of flagyl and cipro my temp spikes and I get the chills and shakes. Even if I make sure to eat this still happens. The other time I take both is in the early am and I go back to bed and don't notice.

when i did the combo of the two, I didn't need my uc meds like asacol, I felt no inflammation but wasn't having formed stool, just that flat ribbon like. Now I'm bleeding and have yellow diaareah and blood. Not fun. Hope we all do better when were done with our meds.

Today went well. Not well as in my colon but at least I did not feel so run down and tired and had no fever. I was able to drive and drop off my stool samples(15 min drive). How about
you Freddyj
