There is this pain reliever in Germany which is banned in the US. I'm really aching in pain and there was nothing better than this pain reliever. I want it badly. Would it be legal to ask my mom to get it shipped to me? If it's not I'm not going to do it. I'm just wondering.

I have doubts anyone will check. Just remember though if something bad happens its your fault. Do you know why its banned in the US?

Well I won't do it but it seems like the stuff which really works they ban. Same with Mutaflor. I don't get it. The drug I'm talking about is called Methimazole. The brand name in Germany is Novalgin-sulfon.

It's available in the US...it's not a painreliever, however.

As quincy said, its not a pain killer but used in hyperthyroidism. If you have related condition, you can ask PCP to Rx you.

I think what quincy is saying is that the spelling was incorrect and the correct name of the drug is Metamizole, which is a pain reliever and is banned in the United States.

I would think there are medications available legally in the US that should be suitable for managing your pain. The main thing is that you need to get your symptoms under control so that you're not in pain without taking pain meds. For the time being though, can you take something like bentyl? At the same time, I've taken darvocet, which I belive is no longer offered in the US, and I am okay...

You were talking to the wrong person. Nurses don't write Rx and she may have never heard of it. I have been surprised at how little nurses know, even ones working in GI offices. Bentyl is an old timey med, not in any headlines. It is very low cost and some GI's haven't heard of it.

It's not a miracle drug but does relieve gut cramping pain. You won't know if it'll help you until you try it. So call your doctor and get an Rx for it.
Stronger narcotic drugs (Darvocet, etc) may cause gut slowdown and constipation so be careful getting a strong pain killer.

I just read an article in Washington Post about a teenager who had pain for years that no doctor could diagnose. Finally they did a gall bladder test and that was the problem. Have you looked at that yet?
