Just really starting,will add when I find. Feel free to add any sudies you might find.

Why bother,well there is a tie in with inflammation,COPD,RA,genes,mucus protein misfolding,protease,ammonia in colon,arginine/citrulline recycling,antibodies.

Just to point out a few things on this:

What's important in this - is that there is two separate issues: There is Aginine/Citrulline Process and Ciltrillunated Proteins - they are two very different things. One is a normal process that produces a normal protein molecule and one is an altered or abnormal process caused by the presence of something - i.e a toxin or enzyme, metalloprotease etc.

The Natural Process:
1) The normal conversion of aginine to citruline: The end product is NO (Nitric Oxide) or more correctly a nitric oxide molecule is left over from this chemical reaction. This occurs in everyone. The end product of this conversion (nitric oxide) is then dealt with and used in various other processes. Which is probably why you keep coming back to the urea cycle, oxidization etc etc.

The Unnatrual Process:
2) Citrillunated Proteins: This is when something interferes with the above process be it a toxin, a particle, an enzyme etc etc. So this "something" causes aginine to misfold - and instead of producing a "normal" citrulline molecule, you get a modified protein molecule that is foreign to the body and where the end product is now Ammonia instead of nitric oxcide. So it (the citrullinated protein) becomes an antigen - and the body produces antibodies against it. And again instead of NO, there is a left over Ammonia molecule that now has to be dealt with.

Hopefully I got that all right - it's quite the mouthful in some ways.

So knowing the above - the importance of the Unnatrual Process (citrullinated proteins) is that autoimmune diseases occur when the body's immune system loses the ability to recognize the difference between self and nonself.

This results in the body producing antibodies, called "autoantibodies" and they are directed against the bodies own tissues. i.e epithelial cells and so on. Normally, antibodies are only produced against bacteria and such that invade the body.

But in the case of cirullinated proteins - because it is still a protein molecule the cells can utilize this protein and incorporate it into it's metabolic process - which then causes the body to attack the cell itself. Perpetuating the whole autoimmune thing...

Took 3 caps of Arginine-Ethyl-Ester yesterday for some good vasodilation, this version is absorbed immediately and does not make it to the colon but l-agrinine is banned from my list as is Arginine Alpha-Ketoglutarate etc.

Felt great.

Citrulline - now there is something that stands out as a red flag to me, every sports drink pre-workout powder that has that usually gives me grief so I avoid it. It is not in the pre-workout formula I am making by scratch for myself.

Citrulline,NO,Arginine they all go around in a circle - all I know is getting Arginine-Ethyl-Ester into me via small intestine has benefits with no downsides, everything else in that loop wrecks my colon.

Friend had high BP, told him to take arginine, yesterday he told me docs said his BP dropped and he can come off the prescription drugs now.
