yes or no when in a flare? Been struggling for a few weeks rt now and wondering if I need to give up the java




Rt now on Canasa and Colozal, plus many supps and powder called called Kyo-Green

Coffee never bothered me at all. You might want to give it up to see if you improve a bit.

I give it up when in a flare. I switch to tea. It's all up to you and how it affects you personally.

I cant even handle coffee when in remission... Gives me the runs. Caffeine is a known to inctease peristalsis. Obviously for some it is a non-issue.

Fer F$@CK's sake -can we stop doing the exact same thread about coffee every week or so?
search "coffee" on this site -there's loads of info already vetted and put through the rigorous Healingwell process. Let's move on.

Some people are new here and don't realize how the threads work....me being one of them.

I'm in a current flair and coffee did aggrevate me during the worst of it. I've recently started drinking coffee again however I use honey as a sweetener. I was a splenda girl before but can't stomach splenda anymore. Honey taste great_

lots of threads are made on the same subject. should we just make mega-threads for imuran, mesalamine, remicade, etc? don't be a b*tch, people are new to forums and internet in general and can be confused how functions like search work.

at the very least! I was very good today and only stayed at 200.

I'm pretty sure coffee is a trigger for flares for me. All 3 flares I've had in my life has been at the apex of coffee intake for me (3-4 cups a day). I stick to herbal teas and have given up coffee and soda all together. It really seems different for everyone though.

Definitely can be a gastric irritant for several reasons, including the caffeine. My reading on UC says avoid coffee and alcohol, and my reading on leaky gut suggests only 1 or 2 cups black decaf daily. Of course, all up to personal experience.

Don't worry about the nasty replies. Like people with UC need any more aggravation instead of kindness! I think repeat thread topics are absolutely fine and a new thread can elicit new conversation. Your subject was clearly stated - if someone doesn't want to read it, they can have the consideration to others to simply move on, sheesh. Apparently 240 thus far were interested enough to read. Wishing you well on your quest for healing!!

Personally I dont think its so much the coffee as what's in it (creamers splenda sugar ext..). For sure during the worst of my flair I have to cut coffee bc its a stimulant but I also cut just about anything that makes me go and during my worst even water can make me go.
