sfc425: I put in my head that unless I do this, I won't get better. So, I relaxed (I might of popped a Xanax or two at the beginning) and before long, I was a pro.

Wow, I remember the first day when I brought Canasa home. I read the information that came with the RX and was all freaked out. Lie on the floor? Wait x minutes? Could cause staining? No way I could do it!
It turned out to not be a big deal, though.
What works for me is what someone had recommended here a year or so ago - standing sideways in front of the sink (so facing right or left, not toward the sink) w/ one foot up on the countertop. Just push it in & go. Never had to wait any amount of time after inserting. It's never popped out. I put either a tiny dot of water-based lubricant or just plain cool water on the tip of the suppository before inserting.
I've never had any problem with staining. There have been times when I've had to pass gas during the first hours after it was inserted, but it didn't pop out or make a mess.

I feel pressure on my rectum from what I imagine is my flare. I don't feel like I can get anything in there comfortably tonight. I also can't stay awake. I don't know if I can do it tonight.

UPDATE (kind of graphic):
I laid on my side and inserted the suppository. I thought I had it in well, as I was able to stand up and walk around without it falling out. I kept feeling like it maybe was not in far enough, though, as the sensation of having something in my rectum did not subside. I looked at my boxer shorts and noticed stains. I checked in the mirror and could see the bottom part of the suppository sticking out, so I put disposable gloves on again and tried to push it further in, with my leg up on the bathroom counter facing sideways. A portion of the suppository came out melted on my gloves when I pulled my finger out, so I'm guessing this was not a mission accomplished but I guess at least a step forward. There's still something up there now, so hopefully I'll benefit from some of the medication.
I'm not adept at this, which I'm sure is crystal clear by now. What sensation/feeling should I expect if I do this properly? Should I have just left it alone and not tried to push more, or is it likely that I didn't have it in far enough?

Jesus flipping christ dude. your making a production out of this. sorry...lol. forget the gloves, stick your finger in there and push it all the way in you will know when its in. you feel nothing, like it never happened. You can feel it when its at the sphincter muscle ya, when its past that it pops into place and you cant feel that thing in there.

sfc..ell, I love your descript
ion of it all...I felt the same way with the tampon experience at age 14.
Basically, when the suppository is completely in you won't feel a thing.
This might help...your finger will have to go in to at least the second knuckle, then squeeze your sphincter (yes, you'll feel it around your finger) and the rest of it will go into place. Then, withdraw your finger.
Mission half accomplished...and another step forward.
Sorry, but I'm chuckling as the descript
ion...thanks for sharing!
Keep us posted.

I'm glad I was able to provide some amusement with my travails using a suppository. If we didn't laugh, we'd cry.
I do think whatever I was able to shove in there helped. I've got the rest of the day to disprove this. And then another date with my new girlfriend Canasa tonight.

Took a few nights off and got back at it tonight: Mission Accomplished.
I can't believe I have to keep doing this.

It's possible I'll be able to stop (at least temporarily) after the 30-day period, right?
I don't exactly want this to become a nightly ritual forever...on top of how expensive it costs.

hmmm...your butt will decide that fact...not you.
just know that stopping shouldn't be the practise...tapering to maintenance should.
