Hi guys,
I was reading this useful forum for years but it's first time I'm writing a topic here.
I would like to share my experience with ecigs. However, I must say that it was my personal experience and yours might be completely different. Nevertheless, I know a few people with UC who have experienced similar to mine issues.
A bit of history: in 2001 I stopped smoking (smoked for 14 years at the time) and 6 weeks later I was diagnosed with UC. For 3 years everyday I had to take asacol and sometimes sterroids, and 3 years later I was preparing myself that I would die soon. But by an accident I found out that cigarrettes help me better than medication, so in 2004 I started to smoke again and in 3 weeks I stopped taking any tablets. Just have to say that before starting smoking again, I did try to use nicotine patches and even nicotine enemas but nothing worked. Cigarettes returned me to a normal life.
Last summer I had little operation on my arm and I was given antibiotics that completely destroyed my stomach and even normal cigarettes did not work, so I had to start taking asacol again.
However, I always wanted to stop smoking and from April 2012 I started to experience with ecigs. I spend a lot of efforts and money on different types of ecigs and now I can tell you what is good and what is bad.
Ecigs that use cartomisers are useless and do NOT help at all. I think they are designed mainly for people who want to give up smoking.
However, EGO-style ecigs with clearomisers DO help to reduce and often to stop UC!
I have my own set up for ecig, however I use Vision EGO 2.9 Ohm clearomiser and different EGO batteries (you can buy clearomisers and batteries online) Lately I use mainly liberty flights (admins: please do not consider this as advertising but as an example) and their VG Virginia Blend 24MG Extra High, though you might find other options with different retailers that would suit your needs.
I stopped smoking real cigarettes and taking asacol completely 3 months ago and UC flare ups have been reduced dramatically, even better than with real cigarettes. I don't know whether this just a temporary cure as I need sometime to see what will happen in the future, but I must tell that I feel generally considerably better and energetic.
I would like everyone to share their experience with ecigs. Thank you.
