I started taking them morning and evening, and now I am showing some blood on the TP.

When did you start? Have you ever taken them just once a day? Could the blood just be from a hemmie? I use them at night and haven't had a problem. The only blood I ever see is from hemmies which right now are bothering me.

or a fissure. Are you having other symptoms? or improving?

The only symptom I have left is urgency. Been on Remi for 7 infusions. No D, and until I started taking the Canasa (whole ones twice a day, as he had me taking 1/2 twice a day before this) no blood.
I have plenty of body aches, but I'm also 68 years old....

I have been noticing darker blood and have been trying to figure it out too. There have been days that my blood has been bright red, but mosly darker. Maybe yours will change like that too. I know it is possible to get worsening of symptoms with Canasa. I'm just not sure how to distinguish between normal UC symptoms and medication causing it. I wouldn't let it go too long before checking with your doctor.

darker red blood is normal if you're going less...and it's mixed with mucus and Canasa. NORMAL as you're healing and the fragility of the tissue is lessening. Meaning, less blood, pooling/sitting till your next bm or you expel it.
Joylu...I'd say continue with the Canasa for a fair trial of it.
As far as body aches, I have no idea what a day without that would be like. It could be exacerbated by the mesalamine, but you're already on that from the oral. I can't see that the rectal will increase it that much. I'd lean more towards the remi...actually.
Do you have a fever?
Is there a lot of weather ups and downs recently?
Hope you get some relief.

Thanks Quincy. I plan on giving the Canasa more time.

Thank you quincy. That helps put my mind at ease too. I am guessing you mean less bowel movements by "going less" and not meaning less red blood. Am I understanding that right?

yes...inflammation regresses...and it can take a while in the rectum. I'd still suggest you get on the enemas, however and use the Canasa for tapering and/or maintenance.

I was just put on Apriso 2 days ago. Do you think the increase in darker blood is because of the Apriso? I will ask about
enemas. I go back in a month. I'd like to use up the Canasa because it is so expensive.
