new pains... REmicade?

so last night woke with horrible pain in shin calf right leg.... been managing all day with tylenol
tonight just woke with pain in both ankles. feet.

this is the worst I've felt in weeks... I'm day 4 post 2 nd double dose Remicade infusion.

wondering if any one gets muscle and joint pain as a side effect to med. or is my body just so sore from 19 days in hospial...
waiting on tylenol to kick in still and have some heart hburn tonight

I didn't have any pain while on Remicade. It could be low potassium. I don't know if Remicade could cause or exacerbate that but low potassium can cause muscle pain. The most common place is the legs. We a IBDers tend not to absorb enough nutrients from our food especially if you were in the hospital. It wouldn't hurt to get it checked . If you do not want to do tht you could try eating some bananas or drinking Gatorade/Pedialyte.

Could be low potassium, but it could be the Remi.

Best to call your doc and get checked out for sure.

It's the Remi. I got those too. I say, I got because now that I've developed anti bodies to the med, I don't get it anymore nor does the med work.

As long as you have those extra pains, the med should work.

well pain got so bad by 5am.... off the ER i went....

several hours later, we ruled out clots or circulation problems... not sure if flare relater pain, med reaction pain, or non specific pain ... either way the gave me a prescription for hydromorphone to use as needed

Glad you're home.

I didn't have such a pain from Remicade. Is the Tylenol helping at all? I think it's a rather weak pain reliever.

I hope you get better. How is your UC so far?

I get wicked calf pain on occasions, I have for a long time and no one can seem to find any issues other then if I continue taking calcium I don't seem to have any issues with it, it is usually just my left calf.

Tylenol doesn't seem to do much of anything for me other then maybe a mental block.

80yr old female dx uc 2012 all rx meds failed the 2nd dose of remacade sent me to the er muscle pain so bad. Now I am on humira no problem 8weeks into every other week

i had frozen joints on remicade but the worse was from prednisone. since you are on both, it's probably hell in your body right now.

thanks guys - interesting and reassuring to know others experience similar...
I feel ok right now.. we will see how the night goes as it has been 2 nights. in a row the pain comes

None of the docs. (even GI) seem to believe me that is could be side effect of remi or pred. yet I researched online and they are both list it as possible ...

Sometimes WE do have more specific info than the docs... (they have lots of info.. we have specific from experience and research...

Canadagal, I made a similar thread and am experiencing something similar -- though I think mine maybe from cipro and not the pred.

Hope they find out the cause but I'm guessing it's the pred that did it, might take a few weeks to go away.
