Uceris (new med)

Has anyone tried uceris yet? Kinda nervous to start.

IMO, it's equivalent to 5 to 7.5 mg of pred in terms of systemic effects, though it probably varies for each individual. In my case, I do think it causes adrenal suppression if taken long term, despite what the doctors think.

Edit: I didn't get much benefit from it either. The studies show it's more effective when taken with mesalamines, but still dismal success rates.

I am taking 9mg if budesonide (the medicine in Uceris). It is equivalent to 40mg of prednisone. I do have some systemic side effects, but they are much less than I have on prednisone. I've had some high blood pressure, some swelling in my ankles, and a little bit of exaggerated facial hair. I am crabby when I first take the pills in the morning. I've been on this dose since 3/12/13.

I would be on Uceris, but my insurance won't pay for it.

I took it for approximately 4.5 weeks. I couldn't deal w/ the side effects (d, gastritis, reflux flaring). I was on it after methotrexate didn't work.

i tried budesonide and after 3 days of horrid cramping and diarrhea, i had to stop it.

I have been on Uceris for about 3 weeks now after being on 40mg of Prednisone. My flare started to get better after about a week of being on 9mg of Uceris but is now significantly worse all of a sudden. No side effects. I can't seem to get out of a flare i've been in since September 2013 so I'll have to look at a different option. I hope you have better results!

I've been on Uceris for almost two weeks. The bleeding has subsided but the urgency is still there especially in the morning. I don't feel myself on this medication. Feeling very depressed and 'down.' Going to call the doctor in the am. Hope that helps.
