I'm just saying that in my opinion the public and medical profession has been brainwashed into believing they are two seperate conditions. In a way they are but in my opinion they are both caused by the exact same thing and that one (IBS) is more mild where the other (IBD) is severe enough to show inflammation and is able to be diagnosed with various tests. As some cases of IBD go into flares or remissions (or stay the same) IBS is also similar in that it can get better or worse (at which time they say you have IBD), or they can have "IBS" for decades where it doesn't ever get better or it doesn't ever get worse enough to be diagnosed as IBD but I believe the causes to all are the same, IBS is just a milder version of an IBD that isn't bad enough to be diagnosed.
The thing is doctors can tell you what Crohns is. They can tell you what UC is. They can't tell you what causes it but they can tell you that the symptoms you are experiencing are actually from your immune system running amuk, causing inflammation, which in turn causes diarrhea, bleeding, frequency, urgency, pain, etc. They can't tell you what IBS is! They can't tell you what is actually causing your symptoms. All they can do is throw their arms up in the air and admit that if you're having symptoms and they can't find anything wrong, then you have "IBS" but they can't tell you why you have pains, diarrhea, constipation, frequency, urgency, etc. like they can with IBD.
For an example IBS may be where the immune system is attacking one of the good bacterias in your colon, causing you symptoms but it is not bad enough to show up in diagnostic testing in order to be diagnosed with IBD. IBD may be where the immune system is attacking 3 or 4 good bacterias in your colon, causing more widespread problems that show up in diagnostic testing and therefore an IBD diagnosis.
