I keep a small duffel bag - a rescue bag - in the trunk of my car. I've never had to use it, but it's good to know that it's there if I need it.
It's got a clean pair of underwear and pants. And a large towel, toilet paper, paper towels, 2 bottles of water, hand sanitizer, a couple empty trash bags, and maybe some other things I've forgotten.
It won't stop an accident from happening, but knowing that you have the means to recover from an accident may give you some peace of mind.
I have also started keeping a small bag on me with an extra pair of boxers, some sensitive wet wipes(can't handle public TP), my lidocaine cream and a ziploc bag for soiled clothes. I found one small enough to fit in a pocket of most my cargo shorts/pants. Found it in the sporting goods section of walmart. It is meant for bikers I think but it is just the right size to fit what i need and not be too bulky.
I haven't had an accident away from home yet since I got the bag but it makes me feel a lot better knowing that I have it.
