OK folks, this one takes the cake...
It's not really Rowasa, it's a generic mesalamine enema from Perrigo, but I've used these for so long that I just call them all Rowasa.
So has anyone else had this happen? This is truly a first for me, after decades of using the things. In this latest shipment, there are all these enema bottles that want to reinflate to full-bottle form after they've been squeezed out (sort of the way a water bottle does at the end of a plane flight). The entertaining (slash annoying) feature of this is that this happens just as we have turned the light out to go to bed. Suddenly a little sound can be heard from the bedside table. Yes, it's the Rowasa bottle, making a gentle series of croaks as it verrrry gradually reinflates. The first time this happened I had no idea what was going on. Now when it happens I just let the air back in myself by squeezing it. My husband has taken to pretending to be the bottle saying "Ro-wassssa!" in a sort of evil-chipmunk voice. Ah yes, the joys of UC.

are you putting the cap back on after using it? I can see it happening without the cap as it unfolds.

I always have and continue to put the cap back on-- it makes no difference. I'm telling you, this is a new breed of Rowasa bottle-- it won't be silenced!!

I noticed a bottle doing that a couple of weeks ago! I always use mine in the bathroom, and while it's attached to my bedroom, it's wasn't a loud enough noise that I'd be able to hear it once I'm in bed. I was still in the bathroom when I heard it.

LOL. The self-reinflating retention enema bottle-- what next? I remember when the 1st generic Rowasa was shipped to my pharmacy because it had been packaged in Israel, and the bottles were extremely hard to squeeze. I ran that fact past my gastro, who said many other patients had already complained about
it: we were pretty shocked at the time. The moral with regard to generic bottles seems to be EXPECT THE UNEXPECTED! / Old Hat (32 yrs with left-sided UC; presently in remission taking brandname Colazal)
