Lialda side effects

Finally started taking Lialda (4 tabs/1x) a few weeks ago after being diagnosed with UC in April. I developed mouth sores last week. And this morning, I woke up with severe big toe joint pain . . . seemingly, a case of gout. Has anyone experienced this as a side effect of Lialda? I have been under lots of stress as my dad just lost a 7 month battle with cancer last week. Causing lots of bleeding and cramping as well. I have a family history of gout as well as Crohn's and Colon Cancer. Beginning to think I have Crohn's-Colitis . . . and gout. Any advice? I go see my PCP tomorrow.

The only side effect I ever had from Lialda was tight shoulders and back for about six weeks.

I've never had any side effects from Lialda.
