I went 15 times today, no blood, 10 of which were completely solid, and the other five were urgent running to the bathroom to release a lot gas and the smallest amount of stool.....I have never gone that many times in one day, and how in the hell is my body making that much stool to go ten times solid

Your body still makes stool even when you dont eat anything. It gets rid of bacteria and toxins that way and food just adds fiber to it. My record was 30 times per day and i was in the hospital on bowel rest, nothing by mouth for a week! Before that, i had been averaging 200 calories a day and still crapped my brains out.

A simpler answer is... UC is freaking crazy!

lol bananagirl..

it is always surprising isn't it... i work with preschoolers (non of which have UC... ) and i am amazed at how they fill the toilet sometimes... how can such a little body, that eats so little food... make such huge poops!!!!! lol

Nightside, sorry you are 'active' right now.. how it slows, might just be a bad day... something you ate? on rectals? might help.

I have some days where I go way too many times but it doesn't continue. I believe its usually associated with something I ate. The next day I'm almost always back to my "normal" whatever that is.

Welcome to my world. I have about 6-12 trips to the bathroom daily with no blood and formed stools. about half of those trips are for gas and mucus only. This has been happening for over a year now. The doctor calls it IBS. I call it B.S.

more of the same today...I started sulfasalizine two days ago, Im wondering if this has anything to do with it

How were you last week and the days up to yesterday?

Did you switch from another oral 5ASA to sulfasalazine?

You've been on the colocort nightly for how long?

The fact that you're having more solid stool is because the inflammation is limited to the rectum.

Maybe your doc can add another type of enema?

Are you taking anything else supplement-wise?

yes, from lialda

3 weeks, one week in started to do awesome but the past two nights I have not been able to hold them in

yes, had a colonoscopy last week, moderately severe UC up to 25 CM

Maybe your doc can add another type of enema?

Are you taking anything else supplement-wise?

yes, I have tried them for years, only minor improvement

How much sulfasalazine?

only taking 4 a day, working my way up to 8 day....He wants me to do 4 for a week, then 5 for a week and so one till I reach taking 8 a day

So how long on the mesalamine enemas? and were you on Lialda as well? how much?

the longest I took Rowasa was 2 months straight, and I was on 4.8g of Lialda (4 pills a day)

And your symptoms when you were on them? did they improve?

no bleeding now...which is good. Did you have bleeding then?

Have you had a recent sig or c-scope?

Nope, I'm at the computer vegging. ran out of coffee, so I'll have to start functioning soon.

Even my cat is telling me to get off my butt..lol.


But, you have improved.
My suggestion at this point is that while you're at the 4 sulfasalazine to add mesalamine enemas at night and ask the doc for a steroid foam enema for during the day.
