I've been in a flare since January. My first hospital stay In march this year was when I was diagnosed with uc. I left doing well on a prednisone taper over a month starting at 60mg and canasa suppositories. Once off prednisone symptoms came back bloody D rectal pain/inflammation but now with horrible cramping. Gi tried asacol for a couple weeks with no luck and tried 20mg of prednisone but symptoms worsened and I was back In the hospital again. They did iv steroids got me re hydrated and after a c diff test, tb, all that good stuff started me on humira. I got home and once again symptoms came back no improvements with humira I actually started getting worse. I tried gaps which helped in the fact that I would go less often but got so weak I felt so weak and naseous I thought I would pass out anytime I would stand and was loosing weight quickly. I flew home to stay with my mom (the plane ride I thought for sure was going to be the death of me ) and got a new gi here. I like him a lot better he tested me for c diff again and lucky me ! I was positive so it explains why the humira wasn't working. The cramping has been so horrific I hate having to eat solid food I had to go to the er Sunday morning after about 15 bloody ds throughout the night terrible pain and I could tell I was dehydrated. They admitted me, I was on a 14 day vancomyacin which they have paired with flagyl and lower dose of prednisone for the uc hopefully ill be out of here soon with at least tolerable pain at home. I'm just tired of feeling semi normal in the hospital and then I get home and I feel crummy all over again and everything comes back ;/ Need to be more optimistic I suppose!
Ps: I also feel like a leper or something with this infection Im a total germaphob and don't want to get anyone sick. I was bleaching like crazy at home what all do I need to do to make sure those nasty little spores don't reinfect me or my parents? We've been good on our handwashing anything more?
Thanks for reading any advice would be much appreciated:)
