Hi Crissy,
Have you considered fecal transplants to treat c diff? It's basically the only treatment which permanently eliminates this illness and it usually works within a few days.
Stress can have an impact, in that it can trigger diarrhea and disrupt the bacterial balance in the colon. Various forms of Clostridium Difficile bacteria are often found in many healthy people without incident, because other bacteria which is more dominant is available to keep it in check.
If you can get the c diff taken care of quickly. The father of a good friend of mine died from complications stemming from c diff just after they started round 5 of Vancomycin about a year and a half after he was first diagnosed with c diff. While in his case he was in his mid 60s and not in very good health, this still isn't an illness to be taken lightly and it won't get better from anti-biotics alone, because the problem is not just the c diff, it's the lack of other healthy bacteria to control it.
