After 2 years on scd ,going off the diet

I have had proctitis for 9.5 years. Symptoms lots and lots of blood when first diagnosed. Salofalk supp. helped immediately. Over the years the bleeding has been just seeing blood on stool occasionally, would use supp. ,blood would stop.

Unable to take nsaid,will bleed soon after use.

Two years ago had a sig. scope right after compleating a round of clindamycin antibiotic for an abcess. Also took Advil and a prescribed nsaid for extreme pain even though I knew I would start bleeding. (pain was unbearable)

Sig showed my whole sigmoid colon was all white looking and bubbly. |Gi said disease progressed even though symptoms didn't change.

Was put on 3 different oral asa's had an immediate reaction ,dearrhea 50 times a day 24/7,symptoms would continue for 3 days after stopping medication. Gi said to continue medication,said never heard of a reaction like that,my body would get used to it. Ended up in the er do to dehydration,lost 10 pounds in 10 days. Stuck with my supp. everything returned back to normal. Got really scared that I couldn't take the orals after the first time I read about this condition even though I had it for 8 years prior.

Started the scd out of fear,still had and have occasional bleeding.

Had a colonoscopy last year ,different gi said colon and biopsy clear.not sure if the diet did anything at all. So after 2 years decided to stop,since my symptoms never changed in almost 10 years.

Is this right?: You used SCD and salofalk supps. (quitting oral meds because they caused big problems) and got a clear colon scope. But you're quitting SCD.

It goes against my mantra of "aint broke don't fix it" but I also believe that an individual knows their gut better than anyone else and gets to make their choices. It sounds like your gut is healed to handle all foods. Congrats.

I left SCD because many of their legal foods disagreed with my gut (SCD yogurt, almond flour) but diet is still responsible for my remission, just not that one. As I've healed more foods come back into my OK list and the day will come when my gut returns to "normal".

P.S. Hope you fired the doc that told you to keep taking meds that put you in hospital.
