I don't doubt that not running to the throne so far has shocked you. We're so used to our colons kicking up that D kind of fuss with any change to meds, etc.! When the urinary tract goes haywire, though, it can change the body's absorption/elimination of fluids so that the colon turns sluggish while more urine flows to the bladder than usual. After the doctor gets you on an effective antibiotic that should take care of your lower back pain, which most likely comes from the kidney infection. Sorry you are suffering from that in addition to stomach pains. I'm wondering if your consultant really means to look for "narrowing" or "stricture" via MRI when he says "blockage"-- because that's what inflammation in the intestine tends to do-- it can narrow the canal making it harder for digested matter to pass thru and that does become painful. It happened to me in left colon 20 yrs ago & I had to take Prednisone to treat it. / Old Hat (32 yrs with left-sided UC; presently in remission taking brandname Colazal)
