Humaria time to work?

I started on Humaria about a month or so ago to get off my 6+ month struggle with prednisone and it's nasty effects on the body when taken long term. So about a week ago, I got a flare up but so far it has not been as bad as previous flare up that occurred while tapering the prednisone. I just took a shot this past Saturday (today is Tuesday) and my question is, how fast will it take for the Humaria to kick in and me possibly see it start to work?

Ever since I was diagnosed it has been a roller coaster for me as it may be for most UC patients. I have had flare ups to where i was hunched over in pain and times that no matter where I went I needed to find a bathroom close by. It's very embarrassing and hard ot explain to people while you are always running out to the BR. Does anyone here take more than 2 shots a month? (every 15 days) How is your experience with Humaria and what is the longest you have been in remission compared to previously?

I started with a shot every 2 weeks after my loading dose (did you do the loading dose?). My GI then moved it to one shot a week, and it has helped a lot. Took about 2-3 months for it to kick in.

I did the initial 4 shots the first day but was told I need to do another shot every 15 days on the same day. Meaning I count the day I shot, say Saturday and 2 weeks from then i take another shot that Saturday. I am also taking 4800mg of Asacol a day (2 pills 3 times a day)

I'm just wondering when this last shot will kick in? I may need to take a shot weekly as you do. I have a doctor appt later this month so I will have to speak about this with him.

I did 4 shots the first day, 2 weeks later I did 2 shots than 1 shot after that. So, it sounds like you did only the first part of the loading dose? I would ask to go every week. it sure does help. There is a woman on here that does this as well. faithmac. I will see if I can find the thread she talks about it.
