INteresting and good news. I wonder why certain drugs get fast tracked and others like asacol foam seem like they never get around to it. Does sound good though.

c.diff can kill people, it's contagious, has become antibiotic resistant depending on the strain, and anyone can get it...

It's a good idea methinks.

I too completely agree that it's important.
My only comment about why did this get approval and not other things is because money does talk just saying...

You know, not everything is a priority...and I personally think that a contagious bacteria is pretty high up there.

Now...if people would only wash their hands after using the bathroom...that doesn't seem to be a priority subjectively in everyone.

with all my hospital stays this year, it amazes me how lax some places are about c diff. when i was in there in april with it again, nobody even wore the c diff outfits or used separate bp cuffs for me. I've skipped around between 4 different hospitals, and the one place was CRAZY strict about it. the nurses told me they get in a ton of trouble if a patient in their unit gets it while they are in the hospital. i had been admitted for my first time c diff in February so i didn't get it in the hospital, but they wouldn't even bring me a cup of water without totally suiting up and wearing gloves.

WOOT! thats good news! Even though it's geared more towards c diff, UC was mentioned in the article as was FMT's. This is the direction we all knew FMT's would go. So, in my opinion we are still stepping in the right direction.
