I started taking Prednisone-40 mg a day on Sunday. This is my third full day and I don't see any results yet. However, I don't have any of the bad results yet that I have been reading about
. But I am still having urgency and blood with mucous. Just curious.

As with everything in this illness, it's individual. Some people see results practically overnight, other people might not see any results for a few weeks. Then of course, some people don't respond at all. I don't think you should worry about
it after 3 days, take it easy and give yourself some time to heal.

What were your symptoms before starting the pred? The worse you are the longer it will take to see a noticeable difference. Sometimes it doesn't work at all but that is pretty rare. Sometimes it doesn't work that well. As far as side effects go you probably haven't been on it quite long enough for them to start showing. Irritability and lack of sleep along with an energy rush will probably show up first, followed by a moon face. Many of the other side effects are more long term related or during the tapering process. Give it a few more days.

I think it also depends if you have been on pred before or not too. For me it was the same day I started it but it could be different for everyone for sure.

My body seems to respond pretty slowly to all of the uc meds. It took a couple weeks before I noticed any improvement from pred, and a couple more weeks until things were manageable. It was a pretty bad flare 12-20 bms a day, but pred did finally after a month get me down to 6 or less and took care of the blood. Another month and I was down to 2-3 bms a day which is much, much more manageable. That flare was my 1st use of pred.

First time I got pred I pretty got better overnight. Later it took about
a week sometimes. Its always different and you also may be at a point where your gut can't absorb much at all and you need it though infusion.

moonface etc come from long term use. If you can get it to work and start tapering in a month or so, you'll be fine.
No one likes being pred, but it can save your colon, so try to use the extra energy for something productive.
I'm on 60 mg right now, trying to get a lot done, trying not to drive family members crazy and really thinking about
how I react to things before I go off on someone.
It's a powerful drug for sure, just try to heal and take care of yourself and wish for me that I don't end up back in the hospital!

For me, which was just a month ago, I felt dramatically better within 3 hours of my first 40mg dose. Over the next 9 days I was on it, my improvement was relatively gradual.

For me, during my last course, I saw a small improvement after 10 days.
But, that was short lived... and now I am starting Uceris tomorrow. Hope that works!

Thanks everyone. I am on my 5th day and not much improvement. This is the first time on it. It seems like I am having more diarrhea than before. But improves throughtout the day.
