Gary:The hydrogen sulfide/SRB theory of UC has been around since at least 2000 or way before.
The milk fat findings also enhance SRB growth,due to taurine conjugated bile.
When eating protein or excess protein some escapes digestion in the upper gut and gets to the colon,
where protein fermentation by bacteria takes place in the distal colon.,also I suspect excess proteolytic enzymes to be generated and or not deactivated.
Remember UC starts distally.
Starch or resistant starch also escapes to the colon,this generates SCFA's which feed the colon cells, also
feeds different bacteria.
Bottom line eat less protein and more starch/resistant starch.
Does it work,perhaps to prevent UC.
Will it put you into remission,perhaps on some people,once immune cascade starts difficult to fix.
Sort of flies in the face of Paleo diet,or is it cooking methods.
Extra Bottom Line: Theory sounds good,but I don't have a clue,the above just one more factoid to this mess.
