Has anyone had a laparoscopic colectomy after having other abd surgeries? Thanks.

I haven't had any surgeries yet. I hope someone else can answer your question. Have you talked to a surgeon to see what he says?

I had my gallbladder removed laparoscopically about 13 months before I had my total proctocolectomy. While my colon removal was laparoscopic, there was one incision that was about 3 inches long ( I can measure later for a more accurate number) and it's located a couple inches below my button, going downward toward my pubic area. Other than that I have a few small scars from where tools were inserted for both surgeries and where the drain was after colon removal. Also, my belly button looks extra long now because both surgeries used that area. None of it really looks all that bad to me though.

Like UCwhat? I had my gall bladder removed laparoscopic many years before my j pouch surgery. My surgeon used the same 5 little lapo incisions scars from my gall bladder surgery when he did my j pouch surgery. With the laparoscopic method, they also have to make a c cection type incision right above the pubic bone. Sounds like UCwhat's surgeon did a vertical incision from belly button down...mine is horizontal. All surgeons have different techniques...how they do it is how they were trained.
