Have any of you seen the new commercial on cbs? It is a news anchor, I can't remember his name but he is old and he says "if you have chrons or ulcerative colitis cbs cares.org and ccfa are here for you"
Now while it is great to have some attention on the diseases, anytime there is a commercial for gi things, cancer, ibd, ostomy supplies, it is always old people!
Like people under 70 don't have any problems.
I don't know why that annoys me so much!

It annoys me a bit too. It's nice that they want to raise awareness but this isn't an illness that only effects older people. it would be nice if we had a more diverse group of faces. Maybe the older folks are the only ones willing to be on the commercial. I haven't seen it. :(

The IBD commercials I see (one for Remicade being promoted for Crohn's disease) shows younger people which is realistic at least.

Still, I'd rather see a commercial for the cure, not just more meds that don't even really target the root of the disease (just the inflammation part of it in the intestines, not the fact that it should target the immune system to actually cure IBD)...depressing, feels like that day won't ever come.

uC does effect old people! This 80year old grand mom has been dealing with this illness for a year it knocked me for a loop none of the RX drugs worked even remicade sent me to the ER with muscle spasms and I lost most of my hair all the pred I Was on did it ! And I lost 30lbs now tell me old people do not get uc it's worse when you are young because there is no cure oh well we do the best we can every body hang in there turn

I'm not saying that it doesn't affect the elderly, I just think that the commercials by using older people make the problem appear to be about old people. The ostomy supply commercials and the self cath ones always show an old white haired couple moseying around chatting about the best solution for them.
That really upsets me becsause now you have adverts aimed at the elderly and people our agr now associate this with being old.
