Labor is identity
As one is what one does.
Beware the work that will not sculpt
One into what one would.
Remember well the bunko bees,
Defined by work that is
Awash in ugliness and guilt,
Yielding little good.
Unknown.

Remember that work is not who we are; we are more than the job, the paycheck allows us to be creative, generous. However, we are always loving kind and compassionate if we look deep enough.

Yeah....but let's get into the REAL world!
The reality is that some don't have a choice, and while we may love our jobs/profession....the people involved around us can influence it big time. 

I love my job too, even all the jobs I've had. Anything with politics, control freaks and ***holes makes it oh, so much more stressful.

I now have control of who I have as clients.  But, the only way I'm allowed to do that is word of mouth and the fact that I don't have to work full-time.

Well, not sure if that was directed at me but I DO love my job and yes, of course it can be stressful (TRUE of all jobs). Each day is different and has its own set of challenges and I wouldn't change a thing. Its not always great but I choose how to deal with the issues you describe and don't let them direct me.

Some jobs are only directed by what others' needs are...good leadership helps tons.

Sucks when we're happily doing our jobs and someone else is planning our demise.

Good to hear you love your job...hope it gives you a lifetime of good memories once you retire.

I hear you, Q.

I am all too familiar with "others planning our demise". As an HR Director at a large company in Phx, I see this and deal with it all the time. As much as I love my job, I will NEVER love office politics and all the BS that goes along with it. Fortunately, I DO have a good Mgr., which, as you point out helps tons (She has a daughter with IBS so she understands my situation which is EXTREMELY helpful).
