Possible complication w/ 6MP

I saw my Asthma, Allergy and Immunology doctor yesterday and I would not say the appointment went well. He wants me to take some blood work results showing my t-cell counts being low to my GI doctor. He wants GI doctor to refer me to an oncologist or hematologist to monitor those counts so I don't get lymphoma. He said they're not low enough to stop 6MP, but he thinks they should be watched so they don't get any lower. He is also putting me on continuous antibiotics. I'm trying not to freak out about this. Is it time to stop 6MP?

nah, just stop going to dr's - they're just not that fun to be around - i'd try the county fair next time - kinda like going to vegas - what happens at the fair, stays at the fair - I bet they still have REAL bumper cars in tx - you know the kind where you can full throttle T-bone a 9 year kid hard enough to practically knock him clean outa his car - can't git any funner than that !

hmmm, sounds pretty scary mad :-( wish I knew more about the big guns, but I try to stay away from them like the discharge chute on a lawnmower -

so, have your counts dropped significantly since the last time they were checked ?

I would at least formulate plan B in case you have to use it.

I have a similar situation with 6mp but it's just my WBC that is low. My GI sent me to a hematologist/oncologist and it didn't provide any answers. The hematologist was worried that I had lymphoma because of my counts but everything checked out okay and I continued 6mp at a low dose. I am feeling fine and my UC has been well behaved. I think I would probably try Remicade if 6mp stopped working.

Soystud, lol! Yes, what I really want to do is check out...no doctors, no meds and move to an island. Let the chips fall where they may! County fairs are a little slice of heaven. Bumper cars are definitely called for here. The kind where sparks fly with the smell of burning rubber and there's a real potential for injury. Jolting unsuspecting folks including children and elderly would livin' things up. Now that my t-cell count is concerningly low it's time to throw caution to the wind, my uc friends!

gary, you are right. I'm trying to think of anything I could revisit so I'm not stepping up to the plate with Remicade which I don't think my body could withstand.

Notsosickly, intertesting. Thanks for telling me. I bet the same thing will happen....oncologist will test for lymphoma. I asked my doctor about lowering my dose recently and he said it would not have the same effectiveness. So, 25mgs is effective for you?
