Hello,

I have planned to continue remicade during pregnancy, I know there is a cut off time. I have been on it and in remission for almost two years.  My last infusion was on 7/24 right before I got pg and my next one is 9/20.

I'm currently 7w pregnant with twins : )  excited and nervous. I just wanted to hear experiences that people have had with remicade and their pregnancies. Most twins deliver early so I'll probably have to stop the remicade a bit earlier than what they typically do.

My understanding is that remi doesn't cross the placenta until the third tri, so you shouldn't have to stop any earlier since it's twins. Congrats!!!!

Wow, Beth-- that's amazing news!!!!!!! Very exciting!!!! Are you tall? I think taller women stand a better chance of carrying twins to full term; I know a few cases that worked out that way & each twin was born weighing near or above 7 lbs. All best wishes, take good care of yourself, & keep us posted. (Hugs, too!) / Old Hat (32 yrs with left-sided UC; presently in remission taking brandname Colazal)

Thanks Ladies! Fingers crossed, it's still very early. I'm only 5'5 but have a long torso and short legs, i have to wear petite length pants, maybe that will help?

My sister-in-law just gave birth to twins (well almost two months ago now) and she is the tiniest woman around. 4 foot 10, teeny tiny. Not sure how much she weighs when she's not pregnant but she made a big to-do over weighing 100 pounds for the first time in her life when she was at the end of her pregnancy.

I think the two babies combined weigh more than she does now... (ok, slight exaggeration...hee hee).

Twins, whoa. You are gonna be one busy mama! I wish to ye an uncomplicated pregnancy, a short labor and two healthy babies.

Fruitgirl is right about safety. CCFA's guidelines suggest having your last dose no later than the middle of your third trimester. Breastfeeding while on remicade appears safe as well.
