I've had Ulcerative Colitis for 37 years now. I'm a single mom who has to work full time. My employer isn't being very understanding. It's a major company and now with some major flare ups and missing a lot of work I'm being threatened with my job

What country are you in? In the States, UC does qualify for FMLA and ADA.

Lmtire you have me beat. I'm only going on 34 years!

How can you be threatened in a major company? Please explain how long you've worked there, how much sick time you have left, and what is going on.

If you are working for a large company in the US you are protected through FMLA. Please talk over your options with your company's HR folks.

If you are in the US you are protected by law as being someone with a disability. They can't legally fire you for missing work due to your condition. Unfortunately, they can fire you for just about anything they want if you don't have a contract or are not part of a union. You would be able to sue them after the fact and about 6 months to a year or more down the road you would be pretty rich if you could prove you were fired because of your disability. Of course that doesn't help you short term. I would make sure they know about your condition in writing and then collect as much evidence as you can along the way to help prove your case if it ever comes to that. How long have you been working for this particular employer?
