It's going to take a long time for people to get the memo on antibiotics. Use them appropriately or suffer the consequences. If you are going to take antibiotics, you need to be absolutely certain that it's a bacterial condition. Puking your guts out for a few days and waiting for the culture to come back is far more prudent than risking the long term consequences of antibiotics. Unfortunately, people want simple fixes so doctors will continue to hand them out like candy.
I predict that it will get a lot worse before it gets better. Give it another 40-50 years of increasing disease rates, then the government will start sounding the alarms and start doing something about
it. Even then, the drug companies will be doing everything in their power to keep the status quo.
