I think ice tea is ok, but I like ginger ale sometimes. I miss a 7up! But because they say no carbonated drinks and I don't drink fruit juice, I just don't have many choices!
What do you drink (besides water) for soft refreshment?

Nantucket Nectars pomegranate-cherry, usually during hot weather & only in small quantities, like 4 oz. I avoid carbonation like the plague! / Old Hat (33 yrs with left-sided UC; presently in remission taking brandname Colazal)

McDonald's ice tea. It tastes great and doesn't have other ingredients like citric acid, etc. I usually drink the unsweetened version but sometimes mix in a little stevia to it or add some of the sweet tea to spice it up. McDonald's uses real sugar in their tea while most sodas have high fructose corn syrup or artificial sweeteners that tear up my gut.
Anyway it doesn't seem to affect my blood sugar levels. And that is the real reason why I am so careful about
my diet. I am not worried so much about
UC as that I am pre-diabetic. For the past 5 years I have been measuring my fasting blood sugar levels first thing every morning. One can of soda will elevate my levels for several days. No doubt if I continued to drink soda and eat candy like I used to then I would have crossed over into diabetes a long time ago.
Interesting that I discovered not only does gluten affect my UC but it also spikes my blood sugar levels. Then I found research that there is indeed a correlation. Look it up.

I'm not a big soda drinker - used to be though. I rarely get store bought soda but if I do, I get 7-up. I prefer fountain soda....seems to have less carbonation.

I drink pepsi, coke, or mug rootbeer occasionally as a treat. It doesn't bother my uc any, I could drink it all day if I wanted to. However, I choose to limit my intake because it just so darn unhealthy (all of the sugar and calories).

Nothing. It's water or sparkling water for me. Softdrinks are just a waste of calories IMO.

I stopped drinking pop in 10th grade. I knew it wasn't good for me, so it wasn't really a big deal.
I used to love coke and cream soda. And obviously, when I went to fast food places or the movies, I mixed all the pops together from the machine!!!

Pepsi, Ginger Ale
But I'll pretty much drink any soft drink if those aformentioned aren't available.
I rarely drink soft drinks, but I do not restrict myself. If I want one, I'll have one.

I can drink just about

"does water count as a soft drink ?"
Look at this guy. We're talking about
soft drinks and he comes up with water. Lame-o
Soystud is like that guy in middle school when the teaching is asking every kid what they want to do when they grow up.
Teacher: Joe, what do you want to do when you grow up?
Joe: I wanna be a fireman cause I wanna save lifes
Teacher: That's wonderful, Joe, good for you.
Teacher: Jane, what do you want to do when you go grow up.
Jane: I want to be a nurse and care for people.
Teacher: That's great Jane!
Teacher: Soystud, what do you want to do when you grow up?
Soystud: Me? ...well, I want to be a Librarian, cause books are safe. *snort* *moving glasses on the bridge of the nose*
Teacher: ...well......that's..... well good for you.

Since I achieved remission about
4 years ago, I drank very little carbonated soft drinks, and then only the diet kind because of my pre-diabetes. Usually when I got fast food, and got a small or medium diet cola from the fountain. Then a couple of months ago I went on a Diet Pepsi binge, and drank a few Diet Pepsis per day. Then I started flaring.
I stopped drinking the stuff, and now have half a 36 pack taking up room in my refrigerator. Still flaring, but I’m hopeful that it’ll gradually clear up. The amount of mucus and blood I’ve been passing has decreased greatly in the past couple of days, so I’m hoping the worst is over.

I mostly just drink water. Occasionally I'll drink a can of club soda, and maybe mix it with some organic juice. I prefer red jacket grape apple.

Welcome back Dude...bwahahahaaaaaaaaa!
Never diet anything.
Rarely have soft drinks, but I'd have lots of ice and stir out most of the bubbles.
I like Ginger Beer cut with ice/water (sans bubbles) when I'm pigging out on air-popped popcorn :-d
But Coke or Pepsi or Ginger Ale is fine too.

I mainly drink water, but when I give myself a little treat on the weekends, I go for ginger ale or caffeine free coke. Caffeine and my UC don't play nice. Note to Coca Cola: please make a caffeine free cherry coke!

I like G2. Rare occasions out I have a Pepsi. But pay the price latter.
By the way, is G2 okay or could it cause D. Because I'm still trying to get the D under control.
