A biopsy will tell the depth of the inflammation in you colon wall. Typically, uc inflammation is pretty shallow, whereas chron's is much deeper tissue damage. Although I don't think biopies are 100% conclusive in a uc diagnosis. rather it is just one piece of evidence that points to a diagnosis (e.g. shallow tissue damage, inflammation starts at rectum, is continuous without patches, etc.). There are some where the area is quite gray/contradictory.
Hopefully, the exploration of your small intestine rules out chron's.
