I never have, but they say I should. I know I can't do the nasal mist with my meds.

Get one every year... and just got mine on Wednesday. Really hurt the arm this year! My shoulder/upper arm is killing, but it completely beats the flu!

I will take a chance with getting the flu. With my luck I would get Guillain-Barré Syndrome (GBS)....

I never have gotten the flu shot either. I have(had) a really strong immune system and never got the flu anyways, of course that strong immune system helped caused my UC to be severe....go figure. But now they are saying I really should get the flu shot and the pneumonia shot. I just need to talk with my GI to schedule it correctly between my Remicade infusions.

I ALWAYS get the flu shot. My son has Type 1 Diabetes and his doctor instructed the whole family to get the flu shot to protect him. Thanks for the reminder, my daughter still has to get hers! Also, now that I'm on Imuran I think it's even more important.

I always get it. I failed to one year when I was in college and was so sick that for about 10 days, all I did was sleep in my bed for like 12 hours at night, then move to the couch and doze off and on all day. Luckily, it happened over Christmas break.

My GI said since I am taking Humira to definitely get a flu shot. I take them yearly anyway. He said don't get the nasal mist tho. It has the active virus in it unlike the shot. Which doesn't.

I don't usually. I only got it one year when I started remicade. haven't gotten it since. I've read too much bad stuff about vaccines and how there are so many types of the flu and the vaccine can only protect against a few viruses... so you could still get the flu but just a different virus.

The science behind the shots is shady and the efficacy rates are dismal at best. In terms of "herd immunity", the scientist who did a comprehensive meta-analysis of the shot said that it's non-existent because the efficacy rates are not high enough.

I'll get mine at the end of the month. I have asthma, and even a cold sets it back. Having had the flu in the past was horrific...I'd prefer to either not get the worst kind or even a milder version of whatever's out there.

It's certainly a personal decision...and not wanting more poisons in one's system is understandable.

Now if more people would only start washing their hands more often...that would help a lot.    there's obvious proof of that during the H1N1 crisis...
