Hey ya'll just trying to post some info here for people to try. It won't hurt you so why not. I have had UC for 17 yrs. Was diagnosed 10 yrs ago. Tried the drugs, and the clueless gastroenterologists. Finally, 5 yrs ago I took a pro-active approach. No meds, and a diet free of MOST chemical toxins such as MSG and it's derivatives, artificial food dyes, etc. I have been in remission for 5 years thus far. My last colonoscopy showed NO evidence of UC. My doctor thought that I was lying about being diagnosed with it. Took the blood test for it and it showed that I still had the factor for it so I wasn't lying. Every now and again I post on sites such as this and get nothing but negative remarks. It has been FIVE years now, and it is only healthy to try this diet. It takes a little research because MSG - the worst culprit - is "hidden" in many MANY products..with names such as "sodium inysolate" (sic), and "hydrolyzed protein". You will feel better eating more healthy, staying away from fast foods and eating more fresh foods. There are a few diets being thrown about, but what it all measures down to is a healthy diet void of most of the toxins that are in processed foods. Good luck.
