Although I was diagnosed with UC so many years ago, I find that I am now a bit scared. Was on sulphasalazine to begin with and then Asacol for over a decade. I usually would experience a flare every year and get through it in a couple of months. This one has been devastating and has lasted 7 months. I am allergic to Prednisone. I just completed a few weeks of Colazal followed by a few weeks of Lialda. The Lialda gave me severe headaches and dizziness. Now on Asacol HD and terrible chest pain/indigestion. Also experiencing headaches again. Doc wants to try IMURAN and am scared.

Sorry to hear. I don't have experience or knowledge about Imuran, but I would say if you've had a flare lasting 7 months you should try whatever you can. Get the inflammation dealt with first so you can focus on long term healing. Looks like you don't do too well with mesalamines though.

I get the headaches too, just awful! Thankfully I don't get them every day! I get dizzy too as well as rapid heart beat, or more like very anxious. I seem to ride it out. Do you?

The meds keep symptoms at bay, do you have symptoms of uc or just these bad side affects?

I hope it gets better for you soon.
