My test results can you help please

What is the explanation for the low platelets? Have you seen a hematologist? I don't think Lialda would cause that.

I had ITP in the past. Are you receiving any treatments for it? ITP is an autoimmune disease as UC is. There is no explanation for any autoimmune disease other than the standard your immune system has run amuck and is attacking or killing off a particular part of your body. With ITP it is platelets. With UC it is probably one of the bacertias in your colon or the colon itself. You can also have a low platelet count without having ITP because many different things, especially meds, supplements, herbs, etc. can lower your platelet count. If these are the cause of your low platelets simply removing the offending med or supplement can let your platelet count raise back up to normal levels. With true ITP it is an immune system malfunction, just as it is with UC and usually requires treatment to get better. Even though Remicade is not a formal ITP treatment it does weaken this immune system malfuntion so it coulp possibly help your ITP situation as well as your UC. Even though 94,000 is considered low in most cases it is a very safe number, not requiring much worry.

In 07 I didn't have ITP do you think all the antibiotics I took for my lymes disease triggered it? Now my doc wants to get a stool test first before remicade, check for c diff, bacteria. He's being thorough

Nobody really knows what starts an autoimmune disease. I have no idea what triggered my ITP but I am fairly certain that antibiotics triggered my UC.

No one is ever "cured" from an autoimmune disease. I have been in remission from ITP for about 13 years. When I was at my worst my counts went down under five thousand, sometimes close to zero, which is extremely dangerous and can be fatal at times. They told me prednisone would cure me (I took doses up to 80mgs per day and I'm a normal weight person). It did absolutely nothing. They told me that having my spleen taken out would cure me so they did that. Notta (at that time). They finally found a fairly benign med which worked but I had to continue taking it and it was expensive (actually cheap compared to some of these UC meds).

Finally I discovered on my own that allergies triggered my ITP so I began allergy shots, which eventually put me into remission with no meds. Since allergies triggered my ITP then controlling my allergies has kept me in remission. I still continue with allergy shots and will for the rest of my life because UC is a walk in the park compared to the dangers of extremely low platelet counts. It is also possible that even though having my spleen taken out, even though it didn't help at the time, may be a factor that kicked in at a later point.

Unfortunately, I still came down with UC while doing allergy shots so that avenue isn't going to put my UC in remission although it is possible that it could put some other UC'r in remission if their UC is triggered by allergies. I didn't find my "cure" for ITP for ten years and I am only 3 years into UC. I have learned that, with any autoimmune disease, you have to find the cure yourself, because the doctors aren't going to do it for you. They don't even try. At the same time you have to be smart enough not to get sucked in to the snake oil salespeople who just want to take your money.

therearemiracles, you know what I think. You have Klebsellia and yeast and I would not ger remicade. Im so glad you doc is doing a stool test. I hope its a comprehensive one. I like the 3 day tests. over 3 days you are much more likely to get the pathogen, especially if you have fast transit. What does he say about your last stool test?
