anyone has been tested for Yeast/ Candida in stools ?

I have not done it, but I have been thinking a lot on this line.

Doctor's data or Great Plains labs are widely used in Autism community. To be honest, I am on the fence about these labs. The kind of stuff they offer is out of mainstream, and the cost is not that cheap. I always wonder, every lab, like Quest or Labcorp etc. is out to make money, so why they do not offer these tests. If you have seen the reports from either of the labs above i.e. DD or GP, the reports and the recommendations that they offer, do not sit well with me. I admit, I tempt to get many tests done, at the same time, I do not want to get too much sucked in their 'system' that my brain forces me to do something that is not worth investigating.

Candida tests in stools can be done in regular labs too, I guess. Wouldn't mind doing it in regular labs, preferably by culturing method, so that you have yes or no answer.

I had the Doctors Data stool test done last year...I think it was a waste of money. I stopped going to the alt doc who ordered it because he was rude and didn't listen to me. The alt doc I currently see wanted to treat for candida overgrowth, which usually means overgrowth of candida albicans...except the test didn't show any candida albicans (but showed normal amounts of candida norvogenesis). I took the supplement she recommended anyway and I had diarrhea, nausea, and couldn't eat for almost a month (note: my UC is in remission, so this was not normal for me). My guess is the supplement wiped out all of the good yeast and bacteria as well.

In my opinion, save your money on the tests--none of these tests are validated, so there's no way to know if they're accurate or not. If you think you have candida overgrowth, start with the diet (lots of information--albeit somewhat conflicting--online).

Hi, My name is PathogenKiller and I had a saprophytic yeast problem for who knows how many years.

I dont appear to have candida. I have another yeast. I dont know if genova or greatplains might pick up the exact kind, metametrix says its a parasite present taxonomy unknown.. and diagnostechs can only tell me its a saprophyte.

Tried to starve it out. Guess that yeasts can eat ketones. Paul Jaiments has recently brought that research up (he has a resistant starch diet).. got sicker. Enzymes, berberine and diflucan is what we finally needed.


I think yeast is alot of people's issue here.
