Lots of loose bm's this morning, but no blood which is kinda amazing. Took 3 sulfasalazines today. Hoping the low dose will be the right balance for me.

Just thought I'd do a quick update for those who are interested. I've been taking 3 sulfasalazine/day (a pretty low dose) and the pain stopped, things formed up a bit, but today the bleeding returned. I'm giving it until Friday, at which point I will talk to my doctor about other options, and may start prednisone. So, I guess the conclusion is that med-free was not for me! Too bad :(

don't worry, maybe your colon just needs to heal more before cutting out meds, once you feel it's getting better you may always return to your experiment and be successful. And maybe you should try being only on meds and vsl until bleeding stops? I intuitively feel that your colon is "overburdened" with many different things, but of course i may be wrong.

I just wanted to say thanks for sharing this experiment and your regular, highly descriptive updates. One way or the other it helps us all a lot.

Can you do a steroid enema and see if that stops your bleeding rather than pred?

I too am failing with just diet. I have discussed with my Dr. to try asacol one more time, but this time to stick it out for a month.

I agree with ewafromwarsaw, And I'm trying to get healthier, maintain remission and then give it another go without meds (probably within a couple years)

I see no reason to quit just because - if it stops working (in my case) or is causing problems in some way, then yes, take a good look at either trying something else, or dropping it from your treatment - but be wise about it and have some sort of plan for going forward -
