Different manufacturer for enemas - should I be concerned?

Hey All,

I have been doing great for past 6 months on generic mesalamine enemas made by Perrigo. Today the pharmacy refilled my RX with enemas made by Gavis Pharmacueticals. The ingredient list is the same but the switch still makes me nervous. Anyone else have experience with this?

I've always gotten the perrigo ones too. I would imagine it should work the same but yes, it's always a little worrisome to change anything when things are working for you.

Yeah, they are probably the same but maybe you could talk to the pharmacist about it.

I had Teva the whole time I had UC and it abruptly switched to Perrigo. I asked the pharmacist and Teva stopped manufacturing the enemas.

Looks like they've been doing them for a few years, which is comforting...

Mesalamine Rectal Suspension Enema was launched by GAVIS Pharmaceuticals. Mesalamine is the therapeutic equivalent to Rowasa®. It is used to treat ulcerative colitis. GAVIS Pharmaceuticals also planned to launch 8 to 10 additional products throughout 2010.
