Quick (and probably dumb) prep question!

Tomorrow you shouldn't be taking in any fluids or food before your scope, only a sip of water if you have to take any medication is what my instructions (for any prep) have always said...my prep instructions were very clear for what to do and not to do starting 3 days before prepping and also the day of the test...I'm surprised you didn't get detailed instructions from your GI's office regarding prepping for your scope.

Definitely drink as much clear fluids ad you can handle today while prepping and even after you're done all your pico-salax (those have always been my instructions) the clear fluids you're suppose to drink not only aid with helping the prep flush through your system but also help with not getting dehydrated while/from prepping.

Best of luck and be sure to post back on how everything goes, including with your scope...I feel your pain today since it was only 2 days ago I was drinking moviprep (I was told I could use pico if I wanted to as well but since they gave me the moviprep for free I figured I mine as well try it--I've never used pico or moviprep before, let me know what the pico tastes like and how it worked for you as I'm curious, I may use it the next time I have to get scoped). I've only ever used phospho-fleet soda until a couple of days ago when I tried moviprep.

I did get instructions from my GI office regarding the week before, the day before, etc. All it says for the day of is "stop fluids two hours before procedure". It doesn't go into detail about how much or what kinds of fluids to drink that you are stopping two hours before. So now I know not to drink at all tomorrow, that is good to know. Thanks! Like I say, usually my scope is in the morning so it was never an issue, I would just get up in the morning and go to the hospital for the procedure.

I will let you know about the pico-salax... 40 minutes to go now... Ugh.

I've always had afternoon scopes until yesterday...I don't recall being allowed to drink much of anything, only a small sip if I had meds that I had to take...my scopes were always early afternoon....if anything I bet you'd only be allowed water the day of...definitely if you're not sure, call your docs office to find out.

Good luck :) and I can't wait to know what you think of the pico taste and how it works for you as well...within half an hour of drinking the moviprep I was stuck in the bathroom...for about 3.5 hours barely getting out of the can to refill my glass with more prep...yup I was sitting on the throne drinking my prep and bottled water and doing my word search puzzle book...what a crapty time it was lol

When I had an early afternoon scope, I was instructed to have a clear liquid breakfast, nothing at all within four hours of the scope. The advantage of drinking more fluids is that it makes the IV easier to start, but otherwise I don't think it makes a lot of difference how much you drink.

Well I'm glad you liked the taste (I will use it next time around) really hope you share how it made it's exit!!! I had no cramping at all, barely any warning that it was coming either with the moviprep.

That sucks Faithmac, I hope they don't make you re-do another C-scope anytime soon because of that.
