that does seem like an odd choice. IMO you should call your GI's office and ask for the DR to respond to this question. PLUS, the medication is the same. Why should entocort leave you hive-free when Uceris gave you hives (which is weird, frankly)?

I actually did-before Uceris came out. It helped me tremendously and here's my evidence:

I had just had my first colonoscopy the day before starting and the scope went all the way to 10 cm into my ileum showing only 25 cm of inflammation into the sigmoid a little bit.

It reduced bleeding and stopped my nocturnal BM's overnight

I had to taper due to heart palpitations and the symptoms returned.

Rowasa enemas started a few days after this took them away again.

To me that is pretty solid proof it CAN help all the way to the sigmoid. I hope it does for you!

I think the reason why some of these meds work differently in different people is because everyone is well, different. What releases in one part of the digestive tract may release in a slightly different area in someone else.

Just an update. Entocort (Budesonide) worked incredibly well (symptoms essentially gone in 36 hours), but I developed hives after two weeks. It's odd that it worked well and yet Uceris didn't do anything for me. 5ASA's don't seem to be doing well for me any longer either, and in fact may be exacerbating symptoms. Ascacol worked very well for many years, though its replacement, Delzicol upsets my stomach terribly. Lialda isn't working, and Asacol HD was denied by my coverage. I think Colazal is worth a try, though I'm not terribly hopeful. Even mesalamine enemas and suppositories either aren't working or may make symptoms a bit worse.

I am reluctant to try any other corticosteroids, though of course if symptoms flare badly I undoubtedly will.

However, as an ex-smoker (quit over 20 years ago), I am willing to try Nicorette. That's next.
