I'm having a difficult time getting the meds I need to treat my c diff. I've tried two rounds of flagyl and they didn't work, And now I'm waiting on my doc to submit the pre authorization form to my insurance so I can get cleared to take vanco.
I've had symptoms and been out of work for a week (that's just this round) and am miserable. Yesterday was a better day but today it came back with a vengeance. I am literally just laying in bed waiting for the pharmacy to call and tell me the script
is in. All I ate today was a banana and a cup of chicken noodle soup.
Tomorrow is Friday. The doc said in Tuesday that if I don't feel better by Fri, then I should call her and we can take it from there, but that was assuming I started the medicine on Tuesday.
I'm scared, feeling bad, and worried. I don't think I can go the entire weekend like this.....

Sometimes you just can't sit around waiting. Someone may have dropped the ball and you may never get your prescript
ion. You need to call and check on it. If it is still screwed up maybe your doc can give you a few samples.

As of noon today, the doc still hadn't submitted the forms to the insurance company. I told then I really need it but all the receptionist said was that the forms were on the docs desk waiting for her to complete them. The pharm is waiting on insurance and insurance is waiting on the doctor. I'm not sure what more I can do, but I'm
open to suggestions

I think you need to get a bit cross, explain your pain...ask your doc for something temporary.....this is not good treatment.

I would at least ask for some free samples from the doc's office to carry you through until the red tape clears up.

I would be as sweet as pie to the receptionist and see if there is any way they can light a fire under the doctors rear to get this going. Or ask to speak to one of his nurses. Sometimes they can bring it to his attention and the need for it immediately.
Or you could go to his office and park your rear on his toilet all day until he signs the paper. ;)

I was thinking the same thing! Go to his office and park it until I get the meds I need. But alas, it's not the best idea I've had. Lol
I called the doc again today and the insurance company rejected the request for vanco stating that I need to be seen by an infectious disease specialist before they will cover that. So now it's Friday, and I'm waiting for my doc to call me back with a plan. Her office person said the doc will most likely prescribe me something else. Idk what else there is if flagyl didn't work! Ugh, feeling frustrated, defeated, and sick.

Ah gotcha. Well that is an option but I have to have a consultation first. I took matters into my own hands and went ahead and made an appt with an infectious disease specialist. The appt isn't until Tues tho. In the meantime I'm going to call my doc and ask to be placed back on flagyl until tues. At least that will somewhat help with the symptoms until I see the specialist and figure out a better solution.

Try to get to his nurse. Call or go to the office and ask to see his nurse.
