2 year old with diagnosis of Ulcerative Colitis or Crohn's...needing advice please

My daughter had her 1st symptoms in Nov 2013 when she was diagnosed with UC. She was on Prednisone and Pentasa and by December we had stopped her Pred and she was just on Pentasa. In Jan 2014, she had full colonoscopy and after few days she got a flare and she is recovering from it. I had reduced her medication and also had introduced too many supplements all at once. Her symptoms stopped on 2nd day of Prednisone during her flare. She is currently tapering her Pred and taking 1.5 grams of Pentasa daily with occasional Rowasa rectal enema and her ayruveda medicines and strict diet.

She has no symptoms currently but I do not know if it is because of her medicines or diet.Once we stop her prednisone and after 3-4 mths I can say if diet helped or not.

BrenBearsMom - I'm so sorry your son is so ill and is not receiving the medical care he needs! You have a legal right to a second opinion. It's the law. Also, just because this guy is the head of the department doesn't mean he graduated at the top of his class; remember each medical class had someone that was at the bottom! Seems after you upcoming appointment if he isn't taking your son's condition seriously, who cares if he gets offended [unless he is your boss or supervisor, then you have a problem!] Research you rights in regards to a second opinion. I'm sure your insurance benefits booklet has a section about this. Hold their feet to the fire!

Food protein induced enterocolitis,quite a few food proteins can cause this.

I've read your post about your 3 yr old (maybe older now) and would like to know how things are going. Our 2 yr old son was diagnosed with UC through a colonoscopy in April. After 2 months of diarrhea, his Dr diagnosed him with this. He is on Pentasa (oral med) 3 times a day and it helped take his diarrhea away (still mashy stools but much fewer diapers) but he still had bloodin his stools so the Dr prescribed mesalamine (enema) but now his diarrhea is back in full blown loads!
Anyway, would love to hear an update on your child as I know they don't see UC in these ages a whole lot. Would love to hear someone else's story :)
