Do Any Of You Live Simply??

I suppose I live "simply", but not in the sense this thread is talking about. As far as I can tell, you need serious money behind you to be able to downsize enough to live the dream, and most people just don't end up earning that much. I certainly never, ever will. If I could afford it, my dream would be a small house or cottage in the middle of nowhere, far away from other people. In reality, the only place of my own I can ever hope to obtain is probably a crappy flat with paper-thin walls. Housing is a major downside of living in the UK; there's a housing shortage.

So yeah, I live simply, but in the crap sense of living simply, ie being poor.

I'm only relatively poor. Compared to most of the rest of the world, I'm rich. But I still feel poor and powerless; speaking of which, I need to do the one thing I can do right now and that is fill in my housing form... :-/

PS: I have no desire to live a flash life either. Even if I won the lottery tomorrow, I don't think I'd blow it all because there's just not that much I want to own!

but we all know that everyone is wired differently - your comfort is my mundane - your peaceful quiet by a stream is my looking for a huge pile of boulders to throw in that stream -

the problem lies in the ability or not to attain those places of contentment/joy/elation -

some folks need for speed is NOT attainable - they spend their whole lives trying to reach that pinnacle that is unreachable due to their wiring diagram -
