Im a 19 year old and I've been recently diagnosed with UC(about 2 months now) it was after they found a campylobacter infection in me, they gave me 3 antibiotics but it just didn't feel like the bacteria was dying so I had a colonoscopy and biopsy done and I was then diagnosed with UC, and no signs of the bacteria; they started me on lialda 4 times once a day and i began to feel much better for a few weeks, then all of a sudden, a flair! I'm so worried, I don't know how long it will last, has the meds stopped working? What food should I avoid?
Thank you for everyone's help

Request rectal meds.
Regarding food...do a search here....you'll get as many suggestions as there are members.
Rectal meds.
As well, do you have a copy of your biopsies pathology report?

I know it's hard, but try not to worry. Sometimes the first drug prescribed for colitis does not work. There are others you could try and hopefully you will hit on the right ones. It's really important to take the meds everyday! You or your parents should call your doctor and report your symptoms. And yes, rectal meds.
Good luck

Are you on any other meds at all? Have your UC meds changed at all or did you start out at 4 Lialda and you're still doing 4 Lialda? Did you only get your UC symptoms after doing the antibiotics or did you have symptoms before that? You may need a short round of prednisone to add to the Lialda.
