MAYBE LDN is finally helping me

My GI was all too happy to prescribe LDN to me, and I make my own dilution.

A 50 mg pill in 50 ml water makes a 1mg/ml solution as I'm sure you know.

I have tried it and given up several times because I didn't notice any helpful effect.

Currently I am trying the sublingual drop route...I got a little glass vial with a dropper and measured out 100 drops of distilled water. Dropped my pill in and it completely dissolved within an hour or so into a milky liquid.

Now each drop contains 0.5 mg per drop. (dose currently is 4 drops, so 2mg) I have been dropping it under my tongue and letting it absorb that way instead of being processed through my dysfunctional GI tract. It tastes terrible, but if it helps I can deal with it.

In three days my flare has decreased significantly! I even bought a pack of cigarettes to use "just in case" and have not even opened them.

I doubt the ones who are in remission from LDN, FMT and other routes post here much. You're going to get the obligatory LDN doesn't help people response ( despite preliminary data showing strong promise ).

All I can say is good on you. LDN is a powerful immune modulator, especially in combination with dietary and lifestyle changes. I recommend it to ex-smokers for the replacement endorphin source.

Thanks, all!

I am also giving up gluten, been a few days now, but having done that before for a whole year, I'd be hesitant to say that is helping as much as the LDN *might* be.

After reading "Wheat Belly" sounds like we ALL should be giving up wheat!

Yay! I just started a couple weeks ago and it is helping me too! Definitely works best with diet mods, particularly gluten/casein free. Hope it continues to help you, keep us posted, great news! :)

that's great geeker!! that's how i made my ldn, too. just dissolved the 50 mg pills. tasted like butt haha didn't do anything for my UC but i've always wondered if the transdermal might have helped me. i couldn't get a prescription for it so i never tried it.

I didnt know that either, Im an ex-smoker and ldn works for me. I didnt develop uc until ten years after I quit though.

Sibby!!! Where did you get LDN from? I'm in Toronto....my GI won't prescribe so I'm looking for an alternative practitioner or another doc. Any suggestions?

thanks laughingduck...will check him out. I'm reluctant to go the nauropathic route, simply because I absolutely can't afford to pay for all those tests....most of which are unnecessary.

I'll send him an email now.....

Cessation of smoking downregulates beta-endorphin and cortisol levels, both important precursors to good immunity. This is one of the chief reasons smokers flare after discontinuation. I think the role of endorphins in the context of autoimmunity is vastly understudied and underfunded by the medical community, and it certainly warrants more looking into.

LDN does a fairly decent job of providing those replacement endorphins, which is why it's promising for not only UC patients, but ex-smokers as well. Nevertheless, along with proper t-cell regulation and the other mechanisms by which LDN works, it's clear that that it has some discernible benefit and I'm really happy laughingduck is doing well on it. The side effect profile is virtually non-existent if the dose is titrated. Sleep difficulties, the most common complaint, are resolved this way.
