So this morning, I stopped and used the restroom at a semi grungy gas station, after I was done I looked over and "oh the horror there was no tp". The thing every public restroom patron worries about. I laughed, opened my wallet, and took out my spare "emergency tp," finished up and left. I warned the dude who walked in after me about there being no tp in there as he certainly wasn't as prepared as me. Lol uc does really prepare one for anything. Oh well, I got a chuckle out of it any ways.

Great idea!!
How could something so simple; but yet of great importance have slipped my mind.
Must have more "senior" moments than I care to admit. Have now added it to my purse.

Yikes, a sock!?!?!?! I don't think I could ever sacrifice a sock lol....I always carry those kleenex packets in my purse and rolls of TP in my car along with my emergency package (change of bottoms, wet wipes etc). Thankfully I've never had to even think to use my socks hahaha!

Since I always line the toilet seat with toilet paper, I would have noticed before-hand....but....I'm assuming you had urgency and rushed to sit down?

I've never been in that situation before, but noting that with my cell-phone, I might have called the station and requested they use the emergency key to bring me a roll..lol.

I admit once using BOTH socks......it was a bad one. Good thing they were big cushy athletic ones.

and...once using used paper towels out of the garbage. Now before you all start moaning, I mean really, could whats on there be any worse than what you're wiping off your ass?!?

There was a post on here before about someone using their own underwear to wipe. Desperate times call for desperate measures.

I always carry a pack of baby wipes as well as kleenex.
Used some regular wipes once in a bus toilet and burned some sensitive tissue. Ouch!

Your stories remind me of that movie with Ben Stiller in his gf's bathroom. Didn't he use her grandmother's tea towel? LOL

When out and about, I always wet a paper towel before going into the stall to use for finishing up. There have been a couple of occasions when the wet paper towel was all aI had, but it worked wonderfully.

Horror is those establishments that have electric hand dryers in lieu of paper towels.

Trouble with using paper towels and anything heavier than tp and very light wipes is the possibility of clogging and overflow!!!!!
Then you have to run like hell!

There are signs pleading with the public to avoid flushing anything but tp. You know who you are! :-)

Funny!...where I live you aren't even allowed to flush toilet paper down the toilet, never mind a sock! believe it or not, people here wipe, then stick the soiled tissue in the waste bin! The plumbing is soooo bad LOL! I'm English, so I just can't bring myself to do that, but that's how they do things here. :-)

I've used a sock too! Hilarious... and used tissue/paper towels from the trash can.... I've even taken my underwear off & used them! Depositing the whole mess in the trash, of course. I carry an emergency stash in my car, & some stuff in my purse, but someetimes I just run out with my cell phone & wallet. Leaves, if you're outside... I love that pocket idea! I will not miss these days, people, will not!

Had a mild heart attack today as I had to make an emergency stop in the way to my GI's office. I didn't have time to even check for t.p. due to the urgency and I frantically scanned the restroom for paper towels just in case there was no t.p. I thought of this post and realized I had a maxipad I could use and then.... Relief..... The spindle was loaded with a huge roll! Yay! But i would have used a sock or two if needed. Hahaha.
