I started a bad flare last August - going 20x/day, blood, mucus, urgency, cramps, the works. I was on Apriso at the time and my GI switched me to Asacol 800 3x/day and rowasa 2x/day. Once the major symptoms stopped, I decreased Asacol from 3/x a day to x2/day (I think 3x is the max dose) and I stopped with the nightly rowasa (I slowly tapered from 2x/day to nightly to every other night to every third night to none).
I generally feel okay and thankful knowing my symptoms could be much worse but I still go on average 4x/day, generally have loose stools and I can still hear the gut noises that we are all so familiar with. Question is do i do anything about these lingering effects even though they seem minor? And if what? I could go up to 3 asacol/day and do a periodic rowasa (say every 3rd night). This would just be because there is still inflammation evidenced by the lingering, albeit minor, symptoms - not because I can't deal with them.
Thanks in advance.
